LUCENA CITY – A drug surrenderer was shot dead in Quezon province Thursday night, police said Friday.

Report from Quezon police headquarters said a 33-year-old namesake of actor Albert Martinez was gunned down while driving his tricycle along a provincial road in Barangay (village) Pahinga Norte in Candelaria town around 8:30 p.m.

Police said the unidentified gunman armed with caliber .45 pistol suddenly shot the victim on his back several times hitting him in different parts of the body.

The victim, who earlier surrendered to authorities in the government’s war on illegal drugs, died on the way to Peter Paul Hospital in the town proper.
