NDF calls Año ‘cold-blooded, cunning butcher’

The communist group unleashed a new tirade on Thursday against President Rodrigo Duterte whom it said needs “professional psychiatric help” for trusting “cold-blooded and cunning butcher” like Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief-of-Staff Gen. Eduardo Año.
“The NDFP (National Democratic Front of the Philippines) does not recommend psychiatric treatment to General Año because he is obviously an irredeemably cold-blooded and cunning butcher,” the National Democratic Front said in a statement.
“It is his boss Rodrigo R. Duterte who needs urgent professional psychiatric help for trusting him too much and other military officers who have consistently sabotaged the GRP-NDFP peace negotiations,” the group added.
This after Año earlier slammed Communist Party of the Philippine (CPP) founder Jose Maria “Joma” Sison’s claims that government forces, with US Central Intelligence Agency’s (CIA) help, is planning to assassinate Sison and overthrow Duterte.

“I believe Sison needs professional psychiatric help to treat his hallucinations. His statement is another (figment) of his imagination,” said Año in a statement on Wednesday.
“If I remember (it) right, ‘yan din ang kuwento nya nung (that’s also his story in) 1999 during the time of former President (Joseph) Estrada where he also alleged that a hit team was sent to Netherland(s) by President Estrada and former Chief PNP Director Gen. Panfilo Lacson to kill him using former ABB and RJ Faction operatives,” Año added.

The NDF said the tip reached him a few weeks ago coming from several sources inside the AFP.
“It is utterly malicious for Año to cite as ‘figment of imagination’ the assassination plot that was launched against Prof. Sison in 1999 and 2000 during the time of the Estrada regime,” the group said.
They also pointed out that Año is in no way qualified to cast invectives against Sison.
“The chief of staff of the Philippine ‘reactionary armed forces’ is completely unqualified to posture as an honest person and to cast invectives against Prof. Sison who is the target of the first stage of the military plot,” the NDF said.
The democratic front of the CPP stood by Sison’s claims, saying that they would reveal more information on the alleged plot in due time.
“In due time, more facts shall be revealed, with due consideration to the safety and security of patriotic military officers who are the sources of information,” the group said. JPV
