Weather better this week, Pagasa says

Expect better weather compared to last week as no low pressure area was monitored to enter the country, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Thursday.

This is due to a ridge of high pressure area (HPA) affecting Luzon and Visayas, the state weather bureau said.

“Generally walang masyadong kaulapan partikular sa may silangang bahagi ng Luzon at Kabisayaan dulot ng ridge o extension ng high pressure area,” weather forecaster Obet Badrina said over Pagasa’s 4:00 a.m. weather bulletin.

(Generally, there are not a lot of clouds particularly in the eastern portion of Luzon and Visayas due to the ride or extension of a high pressure area.)

“Magandag balita rin po dahil wala tayong nakikitang low pressure area at maliit ‘yung tyansa na magkaroon tayo ng bagyo sa mga susunod na araw,” he added.

(It’s good news that we are not monitoring a low pressure area and that there is very little chance for a weather disturbance to develop in the next few days.)

However, partly cloudy to cloudy skies except for isolated light to occasionally heavy rains, gusty winds, and lightning would still be experienced over the whole country.

Meanwhile, moderate to occasionally strong winds blowing from the southwest would prevail over extreme northern Luzon while the coastal waters along this area would be moderate to occasionally rough.

Pagasa said light to moderate winds coming from the south to southwest would also prevail over the rest of Luzon and Visayas and from the south over Mindanao with slight to moderate seas. IDL
