MANILA, Philippines—About 20 street children allegedly involved in cell-phone snatching and other petty crimes in Timog Avenue-Morato Street areas in Quezon City were rounded-up by police Friday morning.

Police Inspector Ernesto Santos of the QC police station 10 said the children were turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

Relatedly, the Metro Manila Development Authority has also launched a campaign to rid major thoroughfares of street urchins or “Hamog Boys,” who have been linked to petty crimes.
