Over 140 Grade 4 female students in Mandaluyong City were vaccinated against cervical cancer as the Department of Health launched on Monday its school-based human papillomavirus (HPV) immunization.
In collaboration with the Department of Education and the Department of the Interior and Local Government, over 180 students of Addition Hills Integrated School were vaccinated with the quadrivalent HPV with the consent of their parents.
“Shifting the HPV vaccination from a community-based to a school-based approach enables us to provide vaccination services to a ‘catch’ population. We will be able to reach high coverage and dropout rate will be minimized,” said Health Secretary Paulyn Ubial. —Tina G. Santos
