Twin quakes jolt Rizal, Metro Manila

Two earthquakes that came within an hour of each other shook the province of Rizal and parts of Metro Manila before dawn Tuesday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

The quakes of tectonic origin happened at 12:31 a.m. and 1:28 a.m. and were located at depths of about 9 kilometers and 5 kilometers, respectively, west of the town of Pililla, Rizal, according to Phivolcs.

Phivolcs said the first temblor was felt in Rizal at Intensity IV in Pililla and Antipolo, Intensity III in Angono and Intensity II in Tanay.

FEATURED STORIES

It was measured at Intensity II  in Manila and Pasig City. In Quezon City, it was at Intensity I.

The second quake was felt in towns of Rizal at Intensity IV in Pililla and Intensity III in San Mateo and Rodriguez.

Intensity I was recorded by equipment in Quezon City.

Phivolcs did not expect any damage or aftershocks due to the ground movements. CBB
