Hot guns seized from beach resort in Cagayan; Belgian hunted

TUGUEGARAO CITY — Policemen on Sunday seized a cache of high-powered weapons at a beach resort in Santa Ana town in Cagayan province.

Ofelia Alipio-Parmienter was arrested after her resort house and a van in Rapuli village yielded an armory of unlicensed high-powered rifles, handguns and bullets, said Senior Insp. Saturnino Soriano, Santa Ana police chief.

Mrs. Parmienter was the registered owner of the beach property and the Toyota Hi-Ace Grandia van where the firearms cache was found. Her husband, Jarl Parmienter, a Belgian, is now the subject of a manhunt by the police.

Cops found Mrs. Parmienter in possession of two cal. 5.56 baby Armalite rifles with defaced serial numbers; two cal. .22 and .45 handguns; and hundreds of rounds of bullets. JE
