LUCENA CITY – One of the top drug suspects in Quezon province was shot dead while sleeping inside his house in Tayabas City shortly before midnight Saturday, police said.
A report from the Quezon police said Marlon Zafranco, 45, was killed by a bonnet-wearing gunman armed with a .45-caliber pistol at about 11:30 p.m.
The killer reportedly broke in through the back door of Zafranco’s house in Barangay Ipilan before shooting him as he slept. He was shot in the head and died on the spot.
Zafranco was reportedly number six on the list of “high-value” drug personalities in the province.
The victim earlier surrendered to authorities amid the government’s war on illegal drugs. CBB
