Uncle stabs, kills nephew in Pangasinan

DAGUPAN CITY—A man was stabbed and killed by his own uncle on Thursday (Aug. 3) in Mapandan town in Pangasinan province.

Victim Jimmy Daroya suffered stab wounds on the right chest and palms. He died while being taken to the Mapandan Community Hospital.

Prior to the incident, police said a drunk Daroya threatened his 56-year-old uncle, Leonard Laguerta.

The victim was later brought to Laguerta’s house in Baloling village at 6:40 p.m. There, the victim was advised by Laguerta to go home and have a rest, being drunk at the time.

Daroya obeyed his uncle. But minutes later, police said Daroya returned to Laguerta’s house and attacked his uncle.

Laguerta managed to fight back and got hold of a kitchen knife and stabbed Daroya on the chest.

Laguerta fled but was arrested later in Barangay (village) Imelda in neighboring San Jacinto town.

Seized from him was a the six-inch long knife reportedly used in the killing. JPV
