Abu Sayyaf men ambush truck in Lamitan; 2 workers hurt
ZAMBOANGA CITY – Two civilians were injured when suspected Abu Sayyaf members ambushed their truck in Barangay Bohe Baas in Lamitan City on Thursday.
Vice Mayor Joel Maturan of Ungkaya Pukan told the Inquirer that the victims worked for him.
He said the two were heading for Ungkaya Pukan to deliver cement when fired at by suspected Abu Sayyaf bandits around 9 a.m.
He said the victims – identified as Umair Kasad and Akman Mantalang – were now recuperating at a hospital.
