Two men, including an engineer, were killed by unidentified gunmen in separate attacks Monday night in Quezon City.
The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) identified the victims as engineer Maximo Gonzales, 58, of Barangay Bagong Silang; and Jaypee Olangca, 29.
A report to Chief Supt. Guillermo Eleazar, district director, said a security guard was manning his post at Commonwealth Heights, Barangay Commonwealth, around 7:30 p.m., when he heard five gunshots.
He then saw Gonzales motionless in the driver’s seat of a Toyota Hilux parked on Payatas Road in front of a cell tower.
Four hours later, three masked men entered a billiard hall on Nawasa Road in Area 6, Barangay Holy Spirit, and shot Olanga several times as he was talking to another person.
Witnesses saw the fleeing assailants abandoning their violet Mitsubishi L300 van but commandeering a Foton van as their getaway vehicle. They drove off toward Commonwealth Avenue.
The motive for the killings remained under investigation.
