A councilor of San Ildefonso town in Bulacan province was shot and killed by two men on a motorcycle while he was in a friend’s house in Barangay Malipampang  on Friday.

Leonardo Cruz,  54, died instantly from several bullet wounds after the attack.

Supt. Voltaire de Vera, San Ildefonso police chief, said investigators have yet to establish possible reasons for the attack but Vice Mayor Luis Sarrondo said it could have been “politically motivated.”

Cruz was chair of the town council’s committees on finance and budget appropriation and on public works and infrastructure. GAL
