DID YOU KNOW: Trade and Industry: from ministry to department

On July 27, 1981, Executive Order No. 709 created the Ministry of Trade and Industry.

On Feb. 27, 1987, Executive Order No. 133, as amended by Executive Order No. 242, reorganized the ministry and renamed it the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

The department serves as the government’s primary coordinator, promoter, facilitator and regulator of trade, industry and investment activities.

The DTI’s main office is on Sen. Gil J. Puyat Avenue, Makati City. Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
