Strong current flips boat over in Agno River; 2 men missing

DAGUPAN CITY — Two men are feared to have drowned Monday night after their boat capsized while crossing the Agno River that separates San Carlos City and Aguilar town in Pangasinan province.

As of 8 a.m. Tuesday, Jordan Muñoz, 19, and Adrian Wyeth Carl Dela Cruz, 18, remained missing.

Police said the two men might have been swept by strong river currents that capsized their boat at about 4 p.m. as they made their way home from Barangay (village) San Jose in Aguilar town to Barangay Bocboc in San Carlos City.

A third boat passenger, Rico Sudio, 21, survived.

Rescue officials began searching for Muñoz and Dela Cruz minutes after receiving the alert at 6:10 p.m.

But the operation was called off at about 8 p.m. due to poor visibility and the raging river current.
