Laborer killed by GF’s ex-lover in Quezon City

A construction worker was stabbed dead by his girlfriend’s former lover in Novaliches, Quezon City, at 11:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Mark Bertiz, 22, was in his girlfriend’s house on Feliciano Street in Barangay Pasong Putik when he was attacked by Pio Acosta, 34, who later escaped.

Daisy Fortes, 36, the victim’s girlfriend, ran outside to ask for help after Acosta barged in and stabbed the victim, said Chief Insp. Elmer Monsalve, head of the Quezon City Police District’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit homicide division.

Bertiz was rushed to East Avenue Medical Center where he was declared dead on arrival. —Nikka G. Valenzuela
