CAMP GEN. ALEJO S SANTOS, Bulacan — Police arrested a 13-year-old boy for strangling to death his five-year-old playmate, a girl, last weekend, in the City of San Jose del Monte.

The body of the five-year-old girl was found near a house in Verde Heights Subdivision in the City of San Jose del Monte at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday (July 22).

Supt. Fitz Macariola, San Jose del Monte chief of police, said the victim was inside a sack. A cable wire and a bag strap were coiled around the girl’s neck. A piece of wood was also found inserted in a portion of her body but the police said the girl was not raped.

The girl, a resident of Calumpit town, came to Verde Heights during weekends and played with local neighbors including the older boy, a Grade 8 pupil, who was recorded by closed circuit television cameras while carrying a sack on the subdivision road where the girl might have been killed.

Macariola said the suspect was arrested on Saturday night after the police saw the CCTV footage. He said the boy claimed he attacked the young girl because she had been a bully.

The city recently dealt with the June 27 massacre of a bank security guard’s family in another subdivision, about 3 kilometers from Verde Heights in Kaypian village. The lone suspect was charged for multiple murder and rape last week.  SFM/rga
