BAGUIO CITY – Students, teachers, and visitors will not be allowed to drive and park their cars at the University of the Philippines Baguio (UPB) on Wednesdays beginning August 3, as part of the campus’s health and wellness campaign.

UPB Chancellor Raymund Rovillos signed Memorandum No. RDR 2017-107 on July 20 declaring every Wednesday a carless day, although vehicles would be allowed in to fetch persons with disability and senior citizens, as well as to deliver or pick up goods.

Rovillos encouraged UP Baguio constituents to take public transport or to join carpool, ride a bike, or walk to campus.

The Wednesday ban on “cars and other carbon-emitting vehicles in the campus” enforces “UP Baguio’s green campus policy, Health and Wellness Program and the Philippine Clean Air Act of 1999,” the memorandum says. –Kimberlie Quitasol
