Malacañang on Saturday said President Rodrigo Duterte was just expressing his displeasure in bureaucratic processes when he said he wanted to destroy government and replace it with a more efficient system.
Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella said Duterte wanted “a pro-active, ethical, efficient and systems-oriented government.”
“The President’s remarks at the Davao Investment Conference therefore show his displeasure and impatience with the bureaucratic red tape and the slow delivery of services, which often become source of government corruption,” Abella said in a statement.
On Friday, the President said he wanted to serve the public efficiently.
“If I have my way, I would like to destroy government and replace it with something, which moves by itself automatically,” he said in an investment forum in Davao City.

Duterte said these remarks as he lashed out against corruption in government and warned those involved in corruption to resign.
Abella described the President as a leader with “decisive leadership.”
“The President, as everyone is aware, is an action man. He is known for his strong and decisive leadership,” he said. IDL
