Jail guard who allegedly tried to sneak in drugs arrested

TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol—A provincial jail guard was arrested on Thursday afternoon for allegedly trying to sneak in shabu to the Bohol District Jail (BDJ) in Cabawan District in this city.

The suspect was identified as BDJ guard Ernesto Vistal, 46, and a resident of Barangay (village) Dagohoy, Inabanga town.

Vistal, a casual employee, tried to sneak in drugs inside the jail facilities about 3:20 p.m.

JO2 Asterio Quiño Jr, who was the operation officer, saw Vistal who passed by the window.

Quiño took a peak at the window and saw Vistal throwing a stylized multi-colored sock inside the chapel, particularly on the floor near the altar.

Quiño run quickly to the chapel, picked up the sock and found two big sachets of shabu worth P200,000.

A source said that Vistal’s contact was one of the inmates who disposed illegal drugs inside the jail.

Vistal would be charged with violating Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs), Article II, of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
