The Quezon City police killed a tricycle driver who allegedly sold P500 worth of “shabu” to an undercover agent early Thursday morning. Members of the Quezon City Police District’s Masambong station conducted a buy-bust operation targetting Allan Corpuz, 21. Around 1 a.m., Corpuz met with the poseur buyer, P01 Michael Eric Ramirez, on Ilagan Street, Barangay Paltok. A report to the QCPD director, Chief Supt. Guillermo Eleazar, said the suspect drew a pistol upon sensing that his buyer was a police officer. Corpuz fired at the officer but missed, allowing Ramirez to shoot back and kill the suspect on the spot. The QCPD said a loaded .45-caliber pistol with serial number 976123, the P500 drug-bust money and 10 sachets of shabu were recovered from the slain Corpuz, while eight bullet casings were found at the spot where he was shot by Ramirez. But in an interview, Corpuz’s sister Jessa Mae said her sibling was reported missing by their family on Tuesday afternoon. “We’ve been looking for him since Monday. We searched in the barangay and at various police stations,” she said. She also denied that her brother was into drugs, stressing that he was not on the barangay drug watch list. She also noted that Corpuz was killed near their house and “in a dark part of the street with no surveillance cameras.” —Nikka G. Valenzuela
