6 drug pushers fall in Quezon anti-drugs operations

LUCENA CITY—At least six suspected drug pushers were arrested in separate buy-bust operations in Lucena City and Calauag town early Wednesday, police said.

Senior Supt. Rhoderick Armamento, Quezon police director, said Lucena anti-illegal drug operatives collared Mark Anthony Ubaña, 30; Wilfredo Ferreras De Ramos, 37; and Leo Certifico Escovilla, 28, in an operation in Barangay (village) 8 around 12:30 a.m.

Report said Ubaña and De Ramos were arrested after they sold a plastic sachet of “shabu” (methamphetamine hydrochloride) to a police undercover agent.

The three suspects yielded 17 sachets of shabu weighing 4.10 grams worth P7,585 in street value. During the operation, Escovilla was also caught by police operatives while in the act of repacking shabu for distribution.

Two hours later, Gilbert Bercasio Edaño, 38, and Sofronio Besas de Castro, 31, were also arrested in another police operation in Barangay Gulang-Gulang. Police seized seven sachets of shabu weighing 5.6 grams with an estimated street value of around P10,360.

In Calauag, alleged drug pusher Roy Nicolas Pascasio, 44, was nabbed after he sold P1,073 worth of shabu to an undercover cop in Barangay Cinco around 1:30 a.m. JPV
