Rizal assistant provincial prosecutor gunned down

SAN PEDRO CITY-The assistant prosecutor of Rizal province was shot and killed by motorcycle-riding gunmen in Taytay town on Tuesday afternoon, police said on Wednesday.

Senior Insp. Maria Lourdes Usana, spokesperson for the Rizal police, said the victim, Maria Ronatay, was onboard her Honda CRV when attacked by two men at 5 p.m. along Ortigas Extension in Barangay San Isidro.

Usana said the suspects shot Ronatay when her vehicle slowed down as it approached heavy traffic.

Police did not say if Ronatay was driving or if she had companions in the vehicle when she was attacked.
