Rain is expected in most parts of the country on Wednesday as the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) persists, the state weather bureau said Wednesday.

The ITCZ is affecting Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

The Visayas, the Bicol region, Mimaropa, Caraga, Zamboanga Peninsula, Soccsksargen and the provinces of Aurora and Quezon will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms, Pagasa said.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with rain showers or thunderstorms will prevail over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

Moderate to occasionally strong winds blowing from the southwest to southeast will prevail over the western section of Luzon and coming from the southeast over extreme Northern Luzon, Pagasa said.

The coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to occasionally rough.

Light to moderate winds blowing from the east to southeast will prevail over the rest of Luzon and coming from the southwest to southeast over Visayas and Mindanao with slight to moderate seas, it added. FM / CBB
