The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Tuesday received one million pesos from the Batangas Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) to benefit fallen Marawi soldiers.

The Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Civil-Military Operations represented by Maj. Gen. Melquiades Feliciano accepted the donation from Dr. Amante Moog, Department Head for Community Affairs of Batangas Province.

“The money given by the provincial government of Batangas is indeed for our brothers in the armed forces. Ang mahal na gobernador po sa kaibuturan ng kanyang puso, he wanted to give help sa mga nagsisilbi sa pamahalaan (Our beloved governor from the depth of his heart wanted to give help to those serving in the government),” Moog told reporters during the reception ceremony in Camp Aguinaldo.

The provincial government of Batangas earlier donated two million pesos for the affected residents of Marawi City, Moog said.

“Malaking tulong ito para sa ating mga casualties sa Marawi, lalung-lalo na sa kanilang mga naiwan na mahal sa buhay (This is a great help to our casualties in Marawi, especially to their bereaved loved ones),” Feliciano said.

Feliciano said the military already released P35,000 to every family of soldiers killed-in-action (KIA). He added that P790,000 is on hand for internally displaced persons.

The Marawi siege had reportedly killed 98 soldiers and policemen, 45 civilians, and 413 terrorists since the fighting started last May 23. JE
