CEBU Queen City United (CQCU) head coach Mario Ceniza is urging all football players in Cebu to join the team’s tryout this weekend at the University of San Carlos Technological Center (USC-TC) in Talamban, Cebu City.
Tryout schedules are 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Sunday.
Ceniza said all positions — defenders, midfielders, strikers and goalkeepers will be open as the members of the team who saw action in the United Football Cup 2011 – 2012 of the United Football League (UFL), are required to join the tryout for the team.
Ceniza, who also coaches the Springdale football team, said they hope to come up with two teams to be fielded in the men’s open of the 14th Aboitiz Cup which will kickoff on Nov. 19, as part of the team’s training.
According to Ceniza, the goal is to also continue fielding a Cebuano team via the CQCU in the UFL.
The team is handled by Cebu Amateur Football Club (CAFC) which is headed by Glenn Quisido. CQCU team manager is Engr. Pericles “Ricky” Dakay.
The tryout will also provide an opportunity for collegiate players to try their chances for the team.
If need be, Ceniza said they would extend the tryout schedules.
The team that would be formed from this tryout will undergo continuous training which will include exposure to big tournaments outside Cebu. /CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
