Dynamite fishers nabbed
Two fishermen were arrested for allegedly using dynamite in their illegal fishing activities off the waters of Culion, Palawan, on Friday.
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) apprehended Ronnie Venturina, 33, owner of the boat and his companion Ricky Longkit, 25, off Dipalian Island.
A resident reported to the PCG that a fishing boat was conducting dynamite fishing activities in the area.
Personnel of the Coast Guard station in Culion went to the area and spotted the fishing boat, which yielded container fuel, three fish nets and 220 kilograms of trevally (talakitok). —Julie M. Aurelio
