Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre has ordered an investigation on the death of Cavite provincial health officer Dr. George Repique Jr. in Trece Martires, Cavite.
In a Department Order (DO) No. 486 released to the media Monday, Aguirre ordered the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to build a case and identify the culprits.

“The director of the NBI is directed to submit report to the office of the undersigned on the development and status of the investigation,” read the DO.
Repique was gunned down by unknown assailants on a motorcycle last Tuesday at Trece Martires City. He served as its provincial health officer for seven years.

The Department of Health Secretary Paulyn Ubial has expressed her grief over the murder. Meanwhile, the Philippine Hospital Association (PHA) released a statement yesterday which condemned Repique’s murder.
Repique was the third government doctor killed this year. Last March, Dr. Dreyfus Perlas was shot to death in Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte while ophthalmologist Dr. Sajid “Jaja” Sinolinding was killed in Cotabato last April. With Ma. Daphne Crystal Umali, INQUIRER.net trainee/JE
