Bodies of civilians believed to have been killed by IS-linked Maute group have been found by soldiers in Marawi City, the military said on Thursday.
Four to six civilians wearing orange shirts have been found by troops of the Army’s 51st Infantry Battalion on Wednesday morning, Joint Task Force Marawi spokesperson Lt. Col. Jo-Ar Herrera said in a press briefing.
The bodies, found in a decomposing state, were believed to the civilians executed by the Maute terrorist group in the early part of the crisis as shown in a video released by them on social media.
Deaths from the government side have reached 92 on Thursday, the 52nd day of the fighting. The number of civilians killed were now at 45, while terrorists killed were at 392. Frances Mangosing/JE
