The stall of a remittance company on the ground level of an upscale mall in Mandaluyong City was held up on Tuesday by a lone armed man who took its earnings for the day totaling P51,000.
According to a police report, a man wearing a bull cap went to the Western Union stall at the ground level of Shangri-La Plaza mall at around 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
At gunpoint, he ordered the lone employee manning the stall, Dollie Charine Alcala, to hand over all the money in the cash box before he escaped.
Senior Superintendent Armando Bolalin, Mandaluyong police chief, said he had asked investigators to find out how the robber managed to get away despite the presence of so many people in the area.
Although the Western Union stall is located on the ground floor of the mall, the entrance is situated outside the mall, facing Edsa. “So if the employee cried for help, the robber could have been immediately arrested,” Bolalin added.
