Update
The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has turned over to the Philippine National Police-Aviation Security Group (PNP-AVSEGROUP) and National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) four individuals surnamed “Maute” for further investigation after they were intercepted at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 (NAIA Terminal 3) going to Malaysia.
Immigration Spokesperson Atty. Ma. Antonette Mangrobang, turned over to the PNP-AVSEGROUP and NBI for further investigation are Al Nizar Palawan Maute, Yasser Dumaraya Maute, Ashary Palawan Maute and Abdulrahman Maute.
Aside from the four, Immigration personnel also intercepted Mawiyag Ibrahim Cota, Acmali A. Mawiyag and Abdulcahar Racman Maute but they were immediately released after determining that they have no derogatory record.
In their initial investigation on the passengers, airport authorities released Mawiyag Ibrahim Cota, Acmali A. Mawiyag and Abdulcahar Racman Maute after “no derogatory records” were found on them.
The seven individuals were bound for Malaysia via Cebu Pacific flight 5J499.
Earlier, Immigration Chief Jaime Morente ordered all ports nationwide to be more strict in screening passengers going in and out of the country following the terrorist activities in Mindanao. – With a report from Jovic Yee, Philippine Daily Inquirer
