3 village watchmen shot dead in Aklan
ILOILO CITY — Two motorcycle-riding masked men shot dead three village watchmen and wounded another in Numancia town in Aklan on Wednesday evening.
Police are still investigating the murders to determine the identities of the gunmen and the motive of the killings, according to Senior Superintendent Lope Manlapaz, officer-in-charge of the Aklan Provincial Police Office.
One of the gunmen first approached and shot Walter Rembukat at a carnival in Barangay Camansi Norte around 10:20 p.m..
While the gunman was walking back towards a motorcycle, other village watchmen tried to stop and overpower him.
The motorcycle driver then shot dead Rogelio Saron and wounded Jestoni Isidro and Danilo Villorente before the gunmen fled towards either Makato or Kalibo towns.
Article continues after this advertisementIsidro died Thursday morning at the Dr. Rafael S.Tumbukon Memorial Hospital while Villorente was treated at the St. Gabriel Hospital in the capital town of Kalibo.
Manlapaz told reporters that investigators have been looking at several angles but could not yet conclude declare the motives and identities of the gunmen. SFM
