Headless body in Basilan believed to be of Abu Sayyaf hostage

ZAMBOANGA CITY – A body and its severed head were recovered in the village of Upper Tumahubong, Sumisip, Basilan, at 3 a.m. Wednesday.

Basilan Governor Jim Saliman said they still had to identify the body.

“I received unconfirmed information that it belongs to one of the five remaining Vietnamese hostages, but this is sketchy. We leave the confirmation to the 104th Army Brigade officials,” Saliman said.
Captain Jo-Ann Petinglay, spokesperson of Western Mindanao Command, said they still had not received reports of any beheading in Basilan. CBB
