Cavite cops seize 474 motorcycles, nab 6 for drugs in anticrime operations

SAN PEDRO CITY-The Cavite provincial police impounded 474 motorcycles and six other vehicles in a two-day, province-wide operation.

In a report on Tuesday, Senior Supt. Arthur Bisnar, Cavite police director, said policemen conducted 312 operations and put up checkpoints on July 1 and 2.

As a result, they impounded 474 motorcycles, most of which did not have proper registration documents.

“The purpose of the operation is to address crime perpetrated by motorcycle-riding criminals,” Bisnar said.

He said most suspects in theft, robbery, shooting and vehicle theft cases in the province used motorcycles.

Bisnar said aside from establishing checkpoints, the police also inspected parking lots and parking areas of shopping malls in the province.

In Carmona town, police arrested three persons after they ignored a checkpoint in Barangay (village) Cabilang Baybay.

Bisnar said policemen recovered three sachets containing suspected “shabu” (methamphetamine hydrochloride) from suspects Cholo Derick Tiongson, 23; May Manguinao, 20; and Kristine Rodrigo, 33.

Three others were arrested in separate antidrug operations in the towns of Gen. Mariano Alvarez and Naic, and in Dasmariñas City, Bisnar said.  RJLA
