FDA warns vs unlisted eye drop product

The Food and Drug Administration warned the public against buying and using an unregistered eye drop product that did not undergo evaluation and testing.

In an advisory posted on its website, the agency cautioned consumers against using “Dok Apo Better Vision 15 mL” eye drops, allegedly manufactured by Yahwism Health and Beauty Products.

The Dok Apo Better Vision eye drop is being marketed as a treatment for cataracts, sore eyes, eye irritations, retinitis and other eye-related diseases but never underwent testing.

The agency also cautioned against the manufacture, sale, distribution and advertisement of unregistered products, as this is a violation of Republic Act 9711, or the Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009.

“The use of such violative product may [even] pose potential health hazards,” the advisory added.

The FDA advised consumers to be vigilant against unregistered products.
