Dad’s appeal: Please help my 4-year-old boy undergo chemotherapy

Kevin Carbo was just a year and five months old when he was diagnosed with embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma in August 2014.

“A tumor had developed in the area where his gallbladder is located. It was very unusual for a baby like him to experience painful urination,” said Kevin’s father, Vincent.

The former tricycle driver in Biliran, Biliran province said the first sign of trouble was blood in Kevin’s urine. He took his baby immediately to Divine Word Hospital in Tacloban City but doctors there told him to go to Manila since they did not have the necessary equipment to treat the boy.

At the National Kidney and Transplant Institute in Quezon City, Kevin underwent tests, including ultrasound, 2-D Echo, X-ray, CT Scan and biopsy. He was then referred by doctors to Philippine Children’s Medical Center (PCMC) where he was advised to undergo chemotherapy once a week to dissolve the tumor.

In August 2015, a year after the first tumor was dissolved, another one was found in the same area by PCMC doctors.

“Kevin, who is now 4 years old, needs to undergo chemotherapy weekly at P8,000 per session. I am appealing to your readers for help because this is will go on until the cancer cells are dissolved,” Vincent said.

He and his wife, Mirasol, can be reached at 09468036009. Those who want to donate money may deposit it in Vincent Carbo’s BPI account (#2359-2562-32).
