1 killed, 1 hurt in grenade blast in Iriga City
LEGAZPI CITY — One person was killed while another was wounded after a rifle grenade exploded on Friday evening in Iriga City in Camarines Sur province, police said Saturday.
Senior Inspector Maria Luisa Calubaquib, Bicol police spokesperson, said in a report that the rifle grenade suddenly exploded while being held by Roy Tino, 48, at around 7:30 p.m. Friday in Barangay (village) San Nicolas. It was not immediately known how Tino came into possession of the grenade.
A rifle grenade is a type of explosive that uses a rifle-based launcher to permit a longer effective range than that of the hand grenade.
Killed in the blast was house helper Marites Capena, 36, of Barangay Sta. Justina East, of Buhi town while Tino was wounded and brought to Bicol Medical Center in Naga City for medical treatment.# Ma. April Mier, MaAprilMierINQ, Inquirer Southern Luzon
