Agents of the Bureau of Customs arrested a man who appeared at Ninoy Aquino International Airport’s Central Mail Exchange Center to claim a parcel found to be containing 1.3 kilos of marijuana.
Tyrone Lopez of Meadowood Executive Village, Bacoor City, Cavite, came to get a package containing five plastic bags of marijuana leaves as well as a vial of cannabis oil and three grams of marijuana seeds, according to Customs District III collector Ed Macabeo.
Lopez reportedly sent a representative on Thursday to claim the parcel, but BoC agents insisted that Lopez should come in person to get it.
Macabeo said the parcel came from the United States and was sent by Minerva Thomas of Colton, California. It arrived at the post office also the other day and was declared as “personal effects”.
The parcel contained other items such as two backpacks, a tackle box, a cooler, fishing strings, and shoes.
The BOC official said the Customs Task Force on Anti-illegal Drugs examined the leaves and confirmed that they were marijuana. JEROME ANING
