MARAWI CITY — Bullets rained anew on the Lanao del Sur capitol compound here on Thursday afternoon and one of them hit a provincial government worker.
Zia Alonto Adiong, the spokesperson of the provincial crisis management committee, identified the victim as Ismail Saripada, a utility worker.
He said Saripada was hit by one of the bullets that found their way into the capitol shortly before 4 p.m.
“He was hit on the leg but I don’t know if it’s right or left. He was immediately rushed to a hospital,” he said.
On Tuesday evening, journalists covering the fighting here also had to seek cover behind thick walls when bullets rained on the capitol.
Last week, Australian journalist Adam Harvey was also hit by a wayward bullet on the neck and had to be operated on so the bullet could be removed.
He had since left Marawi. SFM
