Police cordoned off a room of a building at the Eton Centris commercial-entertainment complex in Quezon City at about 5 a.m. Wednesday after an armed off-duty security guard holed himself inside.
Herminigildo Reyes, 33, from the Grandiose Security and Services Corporation, was under the influence of alcohol when he threatened to fire at people with his pistol, Quezon City Police Director public information officer Chief Inspector Titoy Jan Cuden said.
The security guard was reportedly going through personal problems.
In a radio report, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director Chief Superintendent Guillermo Eleazar said that there was no lockdown in the entire building.
He also dispelled reports that the private watchman ran amok.
Authorities sought the help of the security guard’s family and he surrendered at past 8 a.m. He was later taken to the QCPD Station 10 for investigation.
