Police hunt on for suspect in San Pablo City massacre

MANILA, Philippines – Police are hunting down the suspect in the recent San Pablo City massacre, a police official said Tuesday.

Chief Superintendent Samuel Pagdilao, Calabarzon police director, ordered his men Tuesday to catch Melvin Pido, the man who stabbed to death three people, including 70-year-old widow Zenaida Fronda, at 284 Unson Street, 2C village in San Pablo City last week.

This order was given after Pido evaded arrest Monday evening, said Pagdilao, adding that the suspect and his family seemed to have gone into hiding.

The bodies of Fronda, her son Julius Fronda, 51; and their helper who went by the name Laleng were found in a pool of blood by the widow’s brother-in-law, Ceferino Abril.

Pagdilao said initial investigation showed that Pido was the Frondas’ driver until recently when he was sacked for theft.
