Village chief active in anti-drug drive killed in Sorsogon

LEGAZPI CITY — A village chief was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Irosin town in Sorsogon province Wednesday afternoon.
Chief Insp. Jerry Cereno, Irosin police chief, said the four gunmen shot dead Bernardo M. Lerio, chairman of the remote Barangay (village) Patag, at around 1:30 p.m. The gunmen boarded two motorcycles and escaped the crime scene after the shooting.
“We want to look into the history of Lerio in order to find out what could be the motive for the shooting,” Cereno said.
Cereno said Lerio was quite active in the programs of the national government, especially the anti-drug campaign. SFM
