DIMASALANG, Masbate – Nineteen members of the New People’s Army (NPA) surrendered to the 2nd Infantry Battalion in Milagros town in Masbate province, the military said on Tuesday.

The rebels turned over uniforms, including combat boots, and 11 assorted firearms, including five M-16 rifles, a .45-caliber pistol, and rounds of ammunition.
The names of the surrenderees were not given for confidentiality. They will be under interrogation for the next days.
Trinidad said the surrender of the rebels will significantly weaken the armed rebel group, especially in the second district of the province, allowing the military to focus on the other districts of Masbate. –Suzene T. Cajegas /atm
