Parricide raps filed vs Boniel, 7 others for mayor-wife’s kidnap-slay

LAPU-LAPU CITY, Cebu  — Parricide complaints were filed against Bohol Provincial Board Member Niño Rey Boniel for allegedly killing his wife, Mayor Gisela Boniel of Bien Unido town, and throwing her body into the sea.

Escorted by policemen, Niño arrived at the Lapu-Lapu City Prosecutor’s Office past 2 p.m. on Tuesday for the filing of the complaint.

Also charged were Niño’s seven alleged cohorts — his cousin Riolito Boniel, driver Randel Lupas, Willy Hoylar, Restituto Magoncia Jr., Lobo Boniel, Allan Delos Reyes Jr. and Brian Boniel Saycon.

Of the seven, only four were arrested with Niño — Riolito, Lupas, Hoylar and Magoncia.

The rest were at large as of Tuesday.

Roilito and Lupas have been endorsed by the police as state witnesses after they pointed to Niño as the one who killed Gisela and ordered them to throw the body into the water between Cebu and Bohol.

Gisela’s body has not been found.

Niño was accompanied by lawyers Leilani Villarino, Gerardo Carillo, and Romero Boniel, the board member’s uncle, during the inquest proceedings. Niño was also accused by Gisela’s best friend Angela Gamalinda-Leyson, of detaining her and her 17-year-old son inside a resort in Bien Unido last June 7.

Separate complaints of kidnapping and serious illegal detention had been filed against Niño at the Bohol Provincial Prosecutor’s Office last Friday.  SFM
