/ 10:25 AM June 08, 2017

A man was killed and three others were injured in a four-vehicle collision early Wednesday morning in Payatas, Quezon City.

Traffic Sector 5 of the Quezon City Police District identified the fatality as Carlos Arca, 39, who was on a motorbike on Payatas Road around 5:30 a.m.

The investigation showed that an Isuzu dump truck, with Roberto Tapang Jr. behind the wheel, lost its brakes on a descending section of the road near the corner of Matapang Street.

The truck hit a parked van, which then collided with the motorbike driven by Arca, and hit a pedestrian identified as Ely Nidea, 44.

Arca was reportedly thrown off his bike, suffering a head injury that proved fatal. Nidea also sustained injuries and was brought to the hospital.

Traffic authorities said the truck continued to skid and hit a moving passenger jeepney, making it spin and injuring driver Jesus Eser, 60, and his conductor, Jostino Lauraya, 47.

Police said charges of reckless imprudence resulting in damage to properties with multiple physical injury and homicide would be filed against the driver found liable for the collision./rga
