DID YOU KNOW: Electric Power Industry Reform Act

Republic Act No. 9136 or the Electric Power Industry Reform Act, enacted on June 8, 2001, abolished the Energy Regulatory Board and created the Energy Regulatory Commission which is a purely independent body performing combined quasi-judicial, quasi-legislative and administrative functions in the electric industry. The commission holds office on San Miguel Avenue, Ortigas Center in Pasig City. —Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
