The Sandiganbayan has sought the Department of the Interior and Local Government’s comment on the plea of Senior Supt. Allan Nobleza for the lifting of his hold-departure order.
Nobleza, one of the police officials accused of preventing the “Morong 43” health workers access legal services, has been assigned by the National Police Commission as police attaché to the Philippine Embassy in Islamabad until Nov. 11, 2018.
This was despite his pending case for violation of Republic Act No. 7438, or An Act Defining Certain Rights of Person Arrested, Detained or Under Custodial Investigation as well as the Duties of the Arresting, Detaining, and Investigating Officers, and Providing Penalties for Violations Thereof.
To perform his duty in Pakistan, he asked the Sandiganbayan Seventh Division on April 18 to lift the HDO that banned him from leaving the country without court permission.
But, the antigraft court said it would need the DILG’s input first before resolving the request because the Office of the DILG Secretary acts as the ex-officio chairman of the Napolcom.
His former wife Supt. Maria Cristina Nobleza recently drew national attention after the policewoman was accused of aiding the Abu Sayyaf Group. She was arrested on April 22 along with her new husband Reenor Lou Dungon.
