House inquiry into attack set

Lawmakers will investigate, in aid of legislation, the attack on the posh Resorts World Manila that left 37 people dead.

House Resolution No. 1065 calling for the investigation into the incident was filed yesterday by Ako Bicol Reps. Rodel Batocabe, Alfredo Garbin Jr. and Christopher Co.

The House committees on public order and games and amusement will conduct the inquiry at 9 a.m. on Wednesday at the VIP Room of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3.

“Resorts World Manila is a premier tourist and entertainment establishment frequented by thousands of people on a daily basis. There is a clear lack of protocols established by the management of the casinos, which allowed the infiltration of the establishment by a lone gunman and a clear lack of safety protocol which is exhibited by the lack of evacuation plan in case of fire and other emergencies,” the resolution said.
