A 51-YEAR-OLD man was arrested by police after he allegedly molested an 11-year old girl past 7 p.m. Sunday in barangay San Vicente, Lilo-an, north Cebu.
Adriano Mahilum, a native of Toledo City and temporarily residing in barangay Yati, Liloan, was positively identified by the victim as the one who molested her.
Initial police investigation revealed that the girl was walking along the street when Mahilum, a backhoe operator, called her. She approached the suspect and asked him what he wanted. The suspect then asked her if she is already having her menstruation.
Police said the girl replied “not yet.” Then the suspect brought the girl to a dimly lit area and started to touch her breasts. The girl said she resisted and ran away from the suspect.
The girl immediately told her mother of the incident and they reported to police.
Police looked for Mahilum and found him in the area where the girl had last seen him. He was detained at the Lilo-an police precinct pending the filing of charges.
The victim was brought to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) for physical examination at the pink room.
