DID YOU KNOW: Philippine Eagle Week
Philippine Eagle Week is observed from June 4 to 10 of every year by virtue of Proclamation No. 79 signed on Feb. 24, 1999 by then President Joseph Estrada. The Philippine eagle, a critically endangered bird, is the country’s national bird and the declaration hopes to promote awareness about the importance of the species as a biological indicator of the forest ecosystems, a national symbol, and a unique heritage.—Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
