Hearing to probe safety of contraceptive implants

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) would soon conduct a public hearing on contraceptive implants in a bid to get the temporary restraining order on these lifted, Health Secretary Paulyn Ubial said Wednesday.

The Supreme Court last week affirmed the TRO on the registration, procurement and distribution of contraceptive implants seen as abortifacients. It said it could not lift the TRO before the FDA could hold a summary hearing on their safety.
